1. Payment categories and amounts The portal charges the fees prescribed by the Council (regulations 32(4) and 33): the inspection fee and the registration fee for a new application, and the annual renewal fee. The amount for your category is set by the Council, shown before you pay, and calculated by the portal's server; it cannot be changed in your browser. A renewal made after 31 January adds the late payment fee of regulation 41 (50 percent of the applicable fee), shown before you pay.

2. How payment is made You pay through the Council's official online payment gateway, reached from your application or renewal page. The gateway issues a payment reference (RRR). Card and bank details are entered only on the gateway's pages.

3. Payment references Each payment attempt has its own internal reference and, once issued, the gateway's RRR. Keep the RRR: it is how the Council traces a payment.

4. Verification A payment counts only after the portal has confirmed it directly with the payment gateway, matching the amount, the payment category and your registration number. A message on a payment page or a screenshot is not proof of payment. You receive an email when a payment is verified.

5. Pending payments If the gateway has not confirmed a payment yet, it shows as pending. The portal checks again automatically. Do not pay again while a payment is pending.

6. Failed payments If a payment does not go through, no fee is recorded and you can try again. If money left your account but the payment shows as failed, do not pay again: contact the Council with the RRR (see the Refund and Cancellation Policy).

7. Duplicate payments The portal will not start a new payment for a fee that is already paid or still being confirmed. If you believe you paid twice, contact the Council with both references.

8. Disputes Raise any dispute about a payment through the Contact page, quoting the RRR, the date and the amount. The Council reviews it against the gateway's records.

9. Refunds See the Refund and Cancellation Policy.

10. Payment and approval Paying a fee does not mean an application is approved or a licence is issued.
